Spring Showcase!

Hello readers! This is Willow talking. About a week ago Mummy took me out for a photo shoot on a positively-gorgeous evening! Lots of flowers are already out and even MORE are out today but Mummy’s feeling a bit lazy, ahem – we don’t want to make you Americans more jealous! (Let’s hope you soon won’t have a reason to be jealous… it’s quite time for the snow to stop! We haven’t had an official FLAKE of snow over here, by the way!)

“Hmmm, where should I start?” (As you can see, even the plot flowers are blooming!)

“Look, a crocus! Such a pretty purple…”

“Wow, they are beautiful!” There are lots more in a little patch of grass near Mummy’s house… you never know, we might post photos…

“The weather’s so lovely I could lie here for a while and forget the world…”

“Now we proudly show you our snowdrop collection – and that’s not even all of them!”

There’s something about lying down on the ground surrounded by flowers…

Look for more soon! Hopefully the flowers will start popping up soon over there, too, so we can all celebrate spring!

Hello faithful readers and happy belated Valentine’s Day! Amber here to show you my new shop – (Le) Petite Boutique!

For you non-French speakers, that means the Little Shop. Right now, we have a limited supply – two gorgeous dresses, a pretty pair of boots, an exclusive t-shirt and lovely paper doll set of the newest Girl of the Year… Isabelle!

This is the first lovely dress – or dresses, because it is actually three dresses! You can wear the bottom dress (a 17-1800 style dress), the top dress (vintage!!!) and both of them combined – wow!! ($35)

In celebration of the new Girl of the Year, Isabelle, we have a especially-cute dress, complete with little twirling dancers! ($15)

Next, you can buy Isabelle’s t-shirt – that’s right, the super-duper one I’m wearing! This includes Isabelle’s sweet paper doll set, as pictured next to me! ($7.50)

Lastly, you can buy Saige’s cool retired boots! ($35) Well, that’s it…. oh wait!

I’ve got customers!!!

“Hey, Amber! How’s business going?”

“No buyers so far, Kit, but I did just open an hour ago… :D.”

“Well, I’m about to change that!!!”

After a quick tour…

“So, how much is the t-shirt again?”

“$7.50 including the paper dolls.”

“That’s a DEAL! And the boots?”

“$35, but tell you what, seeing your my best friend (well, one of them) and seeing you like bargains as much as me, I’ll give them to you for $20!”

“Bye-bye and come back soon!”

More costumers!!!

“Hello girls and welcome to the Petite Boutique!!”

“Wow, this store is super cool!”

Emma spotted the three-in-one dress straight away! Meanwhile, Willow investigates the new Isabelle dress.

“This Isabelle dress is awesome, I’m taking it too!”

“Thanks and have a nice day!”

“Bye, and come back soon!”

That is, when I get more supplies!

This post included new doll supplies that we haven’t showed you yet! Saige’s boots were a gift from Human’s grandma, the two dress sets were a gift from Human’s other grandma for Christmas and lately, we won a Doll Diaries giveaway (http://dolldiaries.com/giveaway-isabelles-debut-souvenir-t-shirt/) that included the Isabelle t-shirt and the paper dolls! Thank you all for your generosity, you’ve made lots of dollies happy!!! 🙂

Love, Amber

National Hugging Day – A Doll Day

Hello readers!

Kit here! Did you know that today was National Hugging Day? We celebrated it over here in the Netherlands…

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was I went to hug my Human.

“Thank you Human I appreciate you even though you make me wear pink. And even though you make me wear silly dresses. And even  though you make me wear silly pink dresses.”

“Kit, are you OK…”

Next, I went and hugged my dog!

She’s really Human’s dog, but I like her too. Her name is Skittles and she’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I don’t think she likes hugs a whole lot…

Well, all you dollies go out and hug your Human and her pet today. While you’re at it, go hug some nature…

And your own pet…

Just don’t let them take it overboard!

A big hug to all of our readers!

Hello to all! It’s Emma here talking! Wow, was it really a month? We’re sorry we haven’t posted, but we have some new ideas for our faithful readers…

We’d love to continue making photo stories as a decently big part of our blog, but we have some other plans as well!! Each of the other dolls have an idea in mind, and I’ll let them narrate their projects. Without further ado…

(I’ll let Amber take over now, bye!! :D)

Hi everybody, it’s your favorite doll Amber, and my new series, Art with Amber!! I was thinking for a while that I would L-O-V-E to start a new series talking about all those things you have lying around the house. You know, that stuff that Human doesn’t need anymore and she needs to throw away? Or things that were meant for Human and worked just as well for dolls (some people call these ‘fun finds’)? I’ll post about projects using these that will take you just a few minutes of your time, perfect for a busy day!!! Look for a new post soon!

Hello everybody, Willow speaking. I love fashion and I love giving tips and tricks, so that is why I decided to start a new series called Willow’s Wardrobe. It will give handy ideas that dolls need and may include our attempts at recycling our Mum’s old clothes (no sew). I hope to post soon in the future!

And lastly…

Hi everyone, it’s Kit, your reporter doll! Speaking of reporting, there are some special days coming up (like Valentine’s Day) and some special not-as-important days (like National Hugging Day). Over here at Doll-lightful Days headquaters, we like those not-as-important days too! We’d also like to celebrate them from time to time and share what we did with you, on this new series Doll Days.  Emma and I, the runners of this project, hope to see you soon!

Emma’s back! That’s it, and look for more posts in the near future!

A Romanian Santa Lucia

Hello readers! Willow here. A while ago Mummy went to Romania, remember? And, she brought something special back for us dollies, a Romanian dress! It also works as a Santa Lucia dress! Santa Lucia is a Scandinavian holiday – to find out more look at http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/517701/St-Lucias-Day.

Here’s the dress, finally revealed!

Natten går tunga fjät/rund gård och stuva; (Night walks with a heavy step/Round yard and hearth;)

kring jord, som sol förlät/skuggorna ruva. (As the sun departs from earth/Shadows are brooding.)

Då i vårt mörka hus/stiger med tända ljus, (There in our dark house/Walking with lit candles,)

Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia! (Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!)

Now, let’s take a look at the dress:

The dress is red and white with puffy sleeves. You can adjust how tight it can be and there’s some decorative lace. It’s not a real Santa Lucia outfit and I don’t have a glowing Santa Lucia crown, but it’s not too bad. Grandmummy says that it’s probably traditionally Romanian. Wouldn’t it be so lovely to lounge around all day in this dress? I wouldn’t mind living in Romania…

Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia!

Have a nice Saturday!!!

A ‘Sinterklaas’ Surprise!!

Hello readers! Your favorite reporter is back! (Aka, Kit Kittredge!!) Over here at Doll-lightful Days, we just celebrated Sinterklaas! Sinterklaas is sort of the Dutch Christmas. It’s a real big deal! Sinterklaas is a person who looks a bit like Santa Claus, but he has a big golden staff and a pointy hat with a cross on it. His helpers are Zwarte Piete. These helpers dress in colorful clothing and hats and put black powder on their faces. They dance around Sinterklaas and give out pepernoten (a small Dutch cookie associated with Sinterklaas) to children. On the 5th of December, the Dutch children put their shoes out – often with something for Sinterklaas’ horse inside – and later on in the evening, the shoes are stuffed with presents! (To see more, visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas) It’s a fun holiday… except this time, I was the only one who remembered it!

“YOU GUYS YOU GUYS YOU GUYS YOU GUYS!!! Sinterklaas is in the neighborhood and he’s about to go back to Spain because the 5th of December is already passed – but we forgot about it – AND HE’S ABOUT TO LEAVE C’MON GUYS LET’S GO!!!”

“Kit… could you slow down?”

“Okay, look. We all need to choose a pair of shoes and set them together in this room and Sinterklaas will come and put some presents inside.”

“What Kit means,” Emma explained, “is that there’s a Dutch holiday called Sinterklaas. On the 5th of December he comes to your house and puts presents inside your shoe. It’s like Santa Claus, only with shoes instead of stockings. This year, we’ve been a bit late, but because he and his companions are in the neighborhood, he may still fill them up.” And then she went on to explain all I just said, which made me a bit anxious because Emma tends to ramble and we might not have had time for Sinterklaas at all.

Because this is the first Sinterklaas Amber and Willow have celebrated with us, they got to choose their shoes first. Amber immediately snatched the big boots – “because I’ll have lots of presents that way!!”

Willow chose the 1930’s shoes because she says it was something she and Molly would wear. Hmmm. Must find out who this mysterious Molly is she keeps going on about…

I chose sporty trainers and Emma went for plain sandals.

“OK, now we set our shoes together in a row…”

Amber put her shoes where Sinterklaas would see them first, and the rest of us put ours dutifully beside. (By the way, do you like our redecorated room? We find it’s very colorful :D)

We went to another room, and 10 minutes later Amber eagerly went to check…

We filed into the room as Amber cheered: “PRESENTS! Yay, presents are the BEST!”

Our shoes were LOADED with them!

Emma, Willow and I unpacked our goodies on the bed. We each got a little toy and an American Girl magazine! We were holding our toys and flicking through the magazine articles when we heard a little sob…

Amber stared down into her shoes… which were only filled with lumps of coal!

Emma immediately went to comfort her and generously gave Amber her magazine (she knew how much Amber liked them). “You know what, Amber,” she told her. “Maybe you got coal because you looked at the presents more than the family time. Perhaps it was because you focused on personal gain instead of… y’know… the holiday spirit?”

“That’s true,” Amber said thoughtfully.

“That’s very very true. I didn’t have as much fun this time because I only wanted gifts instead of being with you guys! You know what, I’m not going to do THAT again!”

Lesson learned!

Have a good day!!!

Thanks a lot for following and commenting and everything you followers and readers do!!

By Emma Hawthorne

By the way, I turned 13 on November 18! I chose not to celebrate it publicly, but Kit already has something up her sleeve… 🙂

Hello dolly-fans! Amber here. OK, so someone asked what is on our AG wishlist! We aren’t necessary planning to get all these things, these are just AG stuff we like and would think about getting (if that makes sense)! Here goes, and drumroll please…!!!

  • We’re thinking about getting the GotY 2014, also known as Isabelle! Mom’s a dancer, and it would be fun to have a new friend! If not Isabelle, we’d love another doll with ballerina-long hair, like:

Her, for example. Just we don’t want it to look too much like me 😀

  • We’re also interested in Ruthie:
  • Or the MAG equivalent, we love those green eyes!
  • Or, this is an “out there” prospect, but what about Kaya?                                                          We just love her sweet face… and actually, she’s the one we’re most serious about!

There could be more too, like Rebecca, or perhaps Josefina, or another MAG, but these are our tops right now.

OK, now for the Clothes!

  • This is actually the only historical outfit on our wishlist:                                                               Very cute, but not essential. At all. The only other things we might like from the historical section is clothes from Julie/Ivy’s time. We have had our fair share of fancy clothes. Can you be-lieve that we have never bought a thing from the MAG  clothing section? I think I want to change that!
  • Boots and the sweater are adorable!
  • Cuteness and simplicity:
  • I like this dress:
  • This is cool:
  • Sweet:
  • This is great:
  • This is unique and cute!
  • Adorable!
  • Very sweet:
  • Cuteness!

Hope that wasn’t overwhelming… we also like GotY clothes like Saige’s Sweater Outfit, but we’ve heard that the sweater gets wholey very easily… is this true??

What’s on YOUR wishlist? What dolls/clothes do you like best from ours?

Happy birthday, Willow!!

Ello! It’s Willow here again! I know that my birthday was a long time ago, but we hadn’t celebrated yet. Between Romania and just being jolly busy, we couldn’t do anything until now. And even then I had no idea we were about to have a jolly good time that afternoon…

It was an ordinary day until I got a note. It was stuck on my door and it read:

Dear Willow, don’t worry about lunch today, we’ll take care of it. Could you meet as at about 12:30 today? Oh, and could you wear your cherry-blossom dress? Kit and Emma haven’t seen it on you yet! Amber.

So I slipped my dress on and came on down an hour later… to a huge celebration!!!

“Happy birthday to you.

Happy birthday to you.

Happy birthday dear Willow….

Happy birthday to you!!!!!”

I was stunned!

And they had prepared a tea for me. They had muffins and iced cake and tea and coffee (that was for Amber. She doesn’t drink tea, she says). They gave me the biggest, chocolate-filled, sweetest piece of cake there was, “To make up for all your lost cakes when you had ration cards!” Kit joked.

They tried to make it a real English tea, but English people wouldn’t in their dreams have that many nice things (in my time). I was laughing at Kit because she was using a milk pitcher instead of a tea cup!

Next were presents. I had quite a decent stack of them and all of them were very thoughtful!

From Mummy, I got a Dutch hat and an adorable dog with a red collar. I’ve already named him Yank after my dog back in the 1940s!

From the non-18 inch dollies, I got a bag and these lovely extras: organizing folders, a restaurant, debit card for shops and a library (for when there are shops, libraries and restaurants. We’re planning on making some, though). Not to mention a sweet teddy-bear!

From Amber, I got a dress like the ones they were wearing. She says it’s because I belong with them now – yipee!

From Kit, I got her favorite book: Dogs Rule. We both have dogs in common, won’t that be fun?

From Emma I got a necklace. The rest have special necklaces, so that gift was very thoughtful.

And then the biggest surprise of all…

I GOT A FLUTOPHONE! (Along with a letter W for Willow with a cute bear.)

Emma says it’s a recorder, but it looks like a flutophone to me. And even though I despised practicing it in the 1940s, I’ve actually been missing it. I can’t wait to learn more songs!

“Actually, we’ve got more to celebrate…”

“Happy birthday to Human too as of October!”

“And we got 10 followers – yay!”

“And 1000+ views on the blog!”

“We’ve had a lovely time!”

“And we have SO much to be thankful for!”

Thanks for the followers AND 1000+ views! We love this blog a lot and hope to keep posting!

Kit in White: A photoshoot

Hello eager readers! We have so much to post we just can’t STAND it! Human’s vacation was in Romania…. and she left us behind! Amber says the dress she brought back makes up for it (that’s another post!).

I never thought I’d be starting this month with this photoshoot. This is NOT one of our better photoshoots at all! The light was a bit too dim, but we’re still going to post it –  we all learn from our mistakes!

So, voila “Kit in White”…

Your favorite reporter in her all-white outfit.

Looking at the greenery.

A pose by the tree. One of the better ones…

On the fence.

Among God’s beautiful creation!

To me a lilac symbolizes hope in that picture. That was the only sprig of lilac on the bush – like, it’s not completely winter yet, summer is still hanging on. That lilac is probably gone, now.

Profile shot.

See you later for better pics!
